A Depression-era kids' wild romp in the sky.
When their aviator parents take off on a record-setting expedition, and then disappear over the Pacific, the Flamingo sisters--Flo, Faye, and Franny, ranging from 16 down to 9--have very little time to be worried before their Evil Uncle Freidrich swoops in to inform them he's now in charge. And girls can't fly airplanes, or aeroplanes, so he's taking possession of the girls' biplane. Oh, and they need to hand over the map to the Flamingo family treasure, immediately.
He is not impressed by their entirely honest denial of any knowledge of either the map or the treasure.
They cleverly escape him, and wind up joining a flying circus, headed west to California. They perform amazing stunts of derring-do, and in the meantime need to find the map, break a secret code, and do battle with Freidrich several more times, while searching for their missing parents.
I'd say they match wits with Freidrich, but really, Freidrich is unarmed in that contest. They're much smarter.
There is a dog, who gets very few lines, really, it's shocking, but the dog does survive, which is the most important thing.
The whole thing is very silly, and a lot of fun if you remember not to take any of it seriously.
I got this audiobook through the Audible Originals program, and am reviewing it voluntarily.
